Friends of Alexander Muir Park
‘Friends of Alexander Muir Park’ is an all volunteer community initiative created to address years of neglect in the park. In May 2017, with the assistance of Councillor Jaye Robinson, we approached the City to come up with a plan to begin restoring the beauty of this park.
We were allocated two areas: the Hosta garden (near St. Edmunds and Weybourne) and the perennial garden (near the tennis courts). Six of us volunteered to begin this project and by September our gardening crew had grown to thirteen enthusiastic gardeners. With a generous donation of bulbs and 140 perennials from Amir at Sheridan Nurseries we were able to restore two rock gardens which we expect will be gorgeous in the spring.
After last year’s success we have been given four additional areas to work on (close to Yonge St.) that have become overgrown. Starting in April 2018 we are planning to start weeding and planting again. If you would like to apply your creative gardening talents in an enthusiastic volunteer crew, please contact me, Pat Main, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Together we can help restore the beauty and grandeur to Alexander Muir Park!
